Don’t worry, though. We are here to give you solid tips on how to increase your subscriber count and reach your channel goals.
Ask Your Viewers to Subscribe
You know how to add calls to action (CTAs) to your digital marketing strategy in blog posts, social media posts, landing pages and anywhere else?
You should do the same for YouTube! If you want to get more YouTube subscribers for free, just ask!
For example, in the introduction to your YouTube videos, you might say something like:
“Hey everyone, welcome back to my channel. Don’t forget to click subscribe if you want more weekly updates [whatever your location].
You should also remind viewers to subscribe at the end of your video. After all, if they liked your video enough to watch it to the end, they likely want to watch more.
It’s as simple as that.
You can also add a subscription watermark to your YouTube videos. A subscribe watermark is a small icon that appears in the bottom corner of your videos to remind viewers to hit the subscribe button.

As you start getting those subscribers, you’ll see your channel grow even more. This psychological phenomenon is thanks to FOMO or “fear of missing out”. The more subscribers you have, the easier it is to get more.
But it all starts with just asking people to subscribe.
Promote your YouTube channel on social media sites
Let’s say you’ve mastered all the YouTube basics like choosing a channel theme, creating attractive thumbnails, and using searchable titles. Now is the time to start promoting your videos.
Instead of waiting for your videos to be discovered on YouTube, why not push content directly to your followers?
X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and Facebook are some of the best platforms that help you get more YouTube subscribers.
In addition, they are completely free.
Whenever you publish a new video, create a social media post to get more YouTube views and subscribers. Here’s an example of a post we did on Facebook to drive traffic to a YouTube video.

Make sure you include an attractive image related to the video, a brief description of what your video is about (make it exciting), and a CTA with a link to the video.
Also try using hashtags to broaden your reach. Look at other YouTubers’ social media posts to see which hashtags work well.
Join Online Communities
If you want to get more YouTube subscribers, you can join online communities and groups. By regularly participating in these communities, you can build relationships with other users and grow your online presence as a YouTube content creator.
There are many online communities created specifically for YouTubers to discuss and help each other.
For example, Reddit has a dedicated subreddit for YouTube, with over 1 million members.

You can also search Reddit, Quora, and other online forums for discussions about the topic of your YouTube videos.
If you regularly contribute to online communities, users will be able to get to know you. If they want to see more about what you have to offer, they will definitely subscribe to your YouTube channel.
Just read the posting policies of these communities before you start promoting your video. Many online communities strictly discourage self-promotion.
However, they are often more accommodating to people who participate regularly in the community. Make sure you are alternating your posts with other valuable content that is not related to your YouTube channel.
Then, every now and then, you can slip in a self-promotional post to get more subscribers.
Comment on other YouTube videos
Another easy way to promote your YouTube channel and get more subscribers is to comment on other videos.
But let’s be clear. This doesn’t mean you should start spamming a bunch of YouTube videos and comments saying “Watch my video!” or “Subscribe to my channel!”
All that will do is drive people away from your content.
Instead, just make a funny comment or start a conversation by saying something interesting about the video you just watched. Viewers who engage in conversation with you will often click on your profile. Then, they will see that you also have a great channel.
